Five Below Inc. (stylized every bit fiVe BEL°W) is an American concatenation of specialty discount stores that sells products that cost up to $v, plus a minor assortment of products from $6 to $25.[two] Founded by Tom Vellios and David Schlessinger and headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the concatenation is aimed at tweens and teens.[2] There are over 1,100 stores located across the United States.[2]

David Schlessinger, founder of Encore Books and Zany Erudite, and Tom Vellios, one-time CEO of Zany Erudite founded Five Below on October 4, 2002.[vi]

On March 18, 2020, Five Below announced the temporary closing of all stores due to the COVID-19 outbreak.[pr 1] All the same, as of May 29, 2020, 75% of Five Beneath stores beyond the United States reopened with plans for new stores to open up up.[pr 2]

Growth and expansion [edit]

To date, Five Below operates over 1,100[7] stores in twoscore states,[8] [ix] employing over 90,000 associates along with two distribution centers. Information technology began its outward expansion away from the Philadelphia Metro area by entering the Illinois and Michigan markets in 2011;[pr 3] Georgia, Kansas, Missouri and Western Michigan in 2012;[pr 4] Texas in 2013;[10] Tennessee in 2014; Alabama, Florida and Kentucky[11] in 2015; Louisiana, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Westward Virginia and Wisconsin in 2016,[12] California in 2017 and Arkansas in 2018. 5 Beneath in 2019 publicly[13] stated that they could build as many as 2,500 U.S. stores in the futurity. Arizona, Iowa and Nebraska were introduced that year. Colorado and Nevada were added in 2020; New Mexico and Utah in 2021. Oregon and Washington will also encounter stores open in the future.[xiv]

The boilerplate 5 Below shop size is 8,000 foursquare feet (740 grand2).[18] [19] The store specializes mainly in carrying a wide variety of merchandise at a low price.[20]

In 2018, Five Below moved its corporate headquarters, now called WowTown,[21] to the Lit Brothers Building in the Market Due east section of Philadelphia, PA, and has rights to more 200,000 square feet.[22] WowTown has over 300 employees.

Philanthropy [edit]

Since 2005, Five Below has contributed over $19 1000000 for organizations around the state who focus on the well-existence of children. They take partnered with and supported Alex'southward Lemonade Stand Foundation with the sale of lemonade bracelets, gift cards and pin-ups.[23]

Since 2008, Five Beneath has participated in the annual Halloween Promotion benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.[24]

Afterward Hurricane Sandy, 5 Below partnered with the American Ruby Cross and collected over $l,000 through a $ane donation at the register programme. The company then doubled all donations resulting in a donation in the total of $100,000.[25]

In 2018, Five Below became an official Toys for Tots sponsor.[26]
